About WhatsMySkincare
Built from frustration.
Driven by ingredients.
Why I built this
Hey, I'm Jordan, and I built WhatsMySkincare because I was tired of not understanding what I was putting on my skin.
I deal with rosacea, eczema, and atopic dermatitis. For years I tried to figure out what actually works, googling ingredients at 2am, watching YouTubers recommend conflicting products, buying things that made everything worse. The information was everywhere, but none of it felt reliable or simple.
At some point I thought: this can't be it. There has to be a better way to cut through the noise and just look at what's actually in a product. So I started building. That was about four years ago.
Ingredients first, marketing second
The beauty industry thrives on insecurity. Products are marketed with vague promises and aspirational branding, but rarely with transparency about what's actually inside the bottle.
WhatsMySkincare strips all of that away. We focus exclusively on ingredients: what they do, how they interact, and whether they're likely to irritate your skin. No sponsored rankings. No affiliate bias. Just the formulation, analyzed as objectively as possible.
The goal is simple: when you look up a product here, you should walk away knowing exactly what it contains and whether it's a good fit for your skin, based on published research, not marketing copy.
How our data works
Every ingredient in our database is evaluated based on publicly available dermatological research and scientific papers. We cross-reference multiple sources to assign function categories, benefit profiles, and irritancy scores.
- Ingredient data is compiled from published dermatological studies, safety assessments, and cosmetic ingredient databases
- Irritancy scores reflect the known irritation potential of each ingredient based on concentration ranges used in clinical literature
- Product scores are calculated from the combined ingredient profiles of each formulation
- Analyzer recommendations match products to your skin type, sensitivity, and concerns using the underlying ingredient data
We are continuously expanding and refining our database. If you spot something that seems off, reach out. Accuracy is what we care about most.
About me
I'm a student based in Berlin, working across tech and design. Outside of WhatsMySkincare, I'm interested in everything around health: nutrition, fitness, and how small daily choices compound over time. Skin health is just one piece of that puzzle, but it's the one where I felt the biggest gap between available tools and what people actually need.
This project started as a personal tool and grew into something I think can genuinely help people make better decisions about their skincare. It's still early, and there's a lot more to build.
Important note
WhatsMySkincare is not a medical product and is not intended to replace professional dermatological advice. Our data is based on published research, but individual skin reactions can vary. Always consult a healthcare professional before making significant changes to your skincare routine.
